The Conestoga One Act "Medea" placed third at District contest. The performance ran seconds over the time limit, dropping it one final placing. Those who had s...een the play multiple times this year agreed it was the most dramatic, moving performance of the year. Thanks to cast, crew and directors!
Can you think of a special person in your life who helped shape you? Someone who believed in you, and helped you to see the awesome person you are? That person was a mentor. Be that special person to a student at Conestoga. The Conestoga TeamMates Mentoring program is looking for caring, adult mentors who can meet with a student for one hour a week at school. A mentor training and informational session will be held at the Conestoga Elementary School cafeteria on Tuesday, September 26 from 6-8pm. Anyone interested in TeamMates is welcome to attend. 2017 No Limits Southeast Regional Training
Big Tobacco has a long history of deceiving the public, hiding the truth and targeting youth with its marketing. It’s time to do something about that. Through peer-to-peer education and youth empowerment, No Limits is giving youth like you the know-how, skills and resources to take a stand against Big Tobacco. We envision a smoke-free world in which youth have the power to be the first tobacco-free generation. Unite with other youth from your area and learn how to fight back against Big Tobacco in your community using new resources such as Taking Down Tobacco. Let’s take a stand so everyone can “Breathe Easy”.
Here’s a quick summary: When: Saturday, December 16
Where: Firespring (1201 Infinity Court, Lincoln, NE)
Cost: FREE (We will even pick you up)
We’re looking for Nebraska youth who:
▪ Are 12–17 years old in grades 7–12.
▪ Want to find out the truth behind Big Tobacco’s lies.
▪ Are willing to take action against tobacco in their community and state.
Transportation:
No Limits tries to provide transportation to and from the regional training at no cost to participants. Our buses will be making several stops across the state.
Contact No Limits if you’re having difficulties with transportation.
Youth attending from Lincoln please meet at 1201 Infinity Court by 9:00 a.m.

Recipe of the week...
Snowball Cookies
- 1 cup (8oz/250g) butter, room temperature
- 5 tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 2 cups (10oz/300g) all purpose flour
- 2 cups (8oz/240g) pecans (ground or very finely chopped)
- 1½ cups (6oz/180g) confectioners’ sugar
- Using a large whisk or and electric mixer cream together butter and sugar. Beat in the vanilla and salt.
- Gradually add flour beating after each addition. Stir in the nuts; mix until fully incorporated.
- Divide dough in half and refrigerate in plastic food wrap for approximately 45 minutes.
- Meanwhile, arrange oven rack in middle of oven and preheat to 35oºF (180oC) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper, set aside.
- Place confectioners’ sugar in a small bowl, set aside.
- After chilling roll the dough between palms of hands to achieve a small rounded ball 1 inch ball.
- Place dough balls 1½ inches apart on prepared baking sheets.
- Bake in preheated oven until the cookies are just beginning to brown for 14 minutes. Do not overbake. The underside of the cookies should be only lightly browned. And the cookies should not crack.
- Cool cookies on baking sheets for approximately 5 minutes. Remove cookies from baking sheets using a metal cookie spatula. While cookies are still warm, gently roll them in the confectioners’ sugar.
- Place the sugar-coated cookies on wire racks to cool completely. Once cooled roll cookies in the confectioners’ sugar for a second time.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
